My last week of school, the kids made rockets and launched them. It was quite the competition, and some of the rockets flew really good. Luke helped me make a rocket at home, so I let him come to school with me to launch it. He was so proud of his rocket and was a hit with all the little 8th grade girls.

The rockets were made out of 2L. pop bottles and duct tape.

We launched the rockets with an air compresser and some flew clear across the football field. Because we needed air pressure, the bottle was half full of water, so after a few rockets the grass was pretty soggy.

Luke was ready to pull the cord to launch his rocket, and it misfired, spraying him with mud and water. He was not happy about that happening, but it was so... funny, I just had to get a picture.
